We have a DSIR affiliated research station for wheat in Gogawan, Madhya Pradesh. Extensive research is undertaken to develop and launch high-yielding and disease tolerant varieties of wheat varieties to the advanced growers of the country. Moreover, we have 2 research stations in Chhattisgarh solely for research and line maintenance of Rice. We have a separate R&D team working consistently on development of hybrid rice seeds. The rice research stations are located in Raipur and Dhamtari in Chhattisgarh. Our R&D for hybrid vegetable seeds is located in Ranebennur, Karnataka. Numerous excellent varieties of hybrid vegetable seeds have come out of the R&D station. Our main focus of R&D being on Okra, tomato and gourds.
The company has extended cropped area and diversified crops by adding newer ones for agri-seeds business, vegetables are the additions to the crop cafeteria of the company. Furthermore, the company has successfully launched several new hybrids of maize, wheat, paddy and vegetables in the market. Several breeding and testing stations complete the R&D infrastructure. Wheat research & development is done under technical guidance of Dr. H.N. Pandey (Ex. Director IARI, Indore). Bapna Seeds has extensive collaborations in several research projects with leading Industry partners.
Breeding is largely focused on improving the overall genetics of a crop by using technology to identify the most powerful plant breeding stock.
